Basement Jaxx redefines rave party

Basement Jaxx redefines rave party

Basement Jaxx churned out a top-flight gig when they took to the decks at the KL Live @ Lifecentre on Saturday night.

Setting the party mood with their old hit, Rendez-Vu, the dynamic duo of Felix Burton and Simon Ratcliffe enthralled the crowd with a slew of hits from their chart-smashing debut, Remedy. For those who grew up listening to the house music legends, their classic club anthems like Jump N'Shout, Red Alert and Bingo Bango  sounded as refreshing as ever.

Displaying how eclectic they could be, the Basement Jaxx also psyched up the crowd with their take on a classic Queen song, Bohemian Rhapsody.

"I had no regrets travelling from Kampar to KL to catch Basement Jaxx," said Ken Whei, who drove to KL with 18 of his
friends just to catch their fave act. "But I regret not being able to come for The Bloody Beetroots. Getting stuck in the jam on New Year's day trying to get back to Kampar would be a nightmare."

The Bloody Beetroots and Basement Jaxx were two acts brought in by Future Sound Asia, a dance promoter that had earlier given KLites a taste of celebrity DJ Steve Aoki and Dim Mak Productions back in May 2009.

"I saw someone's twitter timeline about Basement Jaxx being spotted in Jalan Alor," said Derrick. "My friends and I went all over the place trying to find them."

If you had missed out on Basement Jaxx (how unfortunate!) be sure to catch 2manydjs, a.k.a Soulwax at KL Live @ Lifecentre on Jan 15.

See ya party people!
