STYLO KL 2010 features Lady Gaga's designer
A toast to a great fashion party!

STYLO, Malaysia's biggest fashion extravaganza is back! The highlight of the event is the "Gaga Fashion" party on March 27, featuring quirky pop star, Lady Gaga's favourite designer, Marko Mitanovski.
Part of his collection exhibited here will be the items he created for Gaga for her current Monster Ball world tour.
Carrying a strong message on environmental preservation, the eight-day STYLO event, to be held in celebration of the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix season, will kickstart on March 25 and is presented by Mercedez-Benz while Visa is the official card.
The fashion GP, one of the official events under the KLGP City Formula One calender will be staged in several key locations in KL, including the Pavillion, the National Art Gallery, Asian Heritage Row and KLCC, and will feature the creative works of more than 70 fashion designers and 100 artists.
To emphasise its environmental theme, 28 giant sculptures will be constructed and placed in hot tourist spots in the city centre. The project is a collaboration between chief creative artist Phillip Wong and his 100-member team and the National Art Gallery.
"The items used to construct these scupltures are everyday items that we typically throw away as garbage. We decided to express our concerns for the environment in the form of art sculptures made by recyclable material in the guise of fashion items," said Datuk Nancy Yeoh, STYLO president and CEO.
Get this: STYLO KL 2010 has managed to turn our garbage into fine arts, measuring 2.5m to 6.5m, weighing 30kg to 100kg each.
Yeoh added that the sculptures represent a myriad of human emotions - greed, lust, sloth, envy, gluttony and wrath - dubbed "the 7 deadly sins of mankind" which contributed to the gradual destruction of Mother Earth.
And what is a glamorous fashion week without an award show? The Mercedez-Benz STYLO Fashion awards will be handed out to the best and the most deserving in Malaysian high fashion on April 2.
